It’s recommended to post a job up to 4 months before the start date. Some key points to know:
- Typically, students aren’t set up and ready to apply until the 3rd or 4th week of the semester. So if posting during the first month of the semester – it’s best to have a longer application deadline to capture the most student’s attention.
- For example, if you want a student to start working in May – then post in January with a deadline of Feb 1 or later. If you want a student to start working in September then post in May with a deadline of June 1.
- The closer you are to the start date, the shorter the posting period.
